Democrats Heckle Nobel Peace Prize Nominee

The Bolton Confirmation hearings have begun again. For those of you who don't recall, Bolton was granted a recess appointment by President Bush when a successful Democrat filibuster blocked his appointment last year. As could be expected, at the time of the recess appointment many on the left cried foul. Now, many months later, many democrats are singing the same tune.

At today's hearings, in a completely appropriate display of the freedom of speech, two hecklers interupted the proceedings to shout their opinions. One woman shouted "He is a disgrace to the United States (and) he is not a ligitimate representative of the United States. He is not representing our best interests."

The hecklers seem to be forgetting that this is a man who, during his short time acting as an ambassador, has already been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. In fact, his nomination was not based on his strong support to bring the Darfur genocide to the front of the table, or for promoting change within the corrupt Human Rights council. Rather, his Nobel nomination was for his work exposing the Iranian nuclear situation.

John Bolton will very likely be confirmed, and rightfully so. In his short tenure he has managed to apply meaningful pressure to a corrupt organization. I look forward to his many years to come.

    Hey, nice site.

A surprise to me that Bolton has been nominated for "the prize."

"The prize" went to Jimmah Carter, did it not?

Bolton should sue the Nobel committee; I would.

Being nominated for a nobel peace prize means jack squat. Winning it actually does. Bush was nominated for one after starting one war, and I believe also after starting the second. To me that doesn't seem very peaceful, but it doesn't change the fact that he was nominated for one.

Hey Ben. Yeah, I have to agree with you. After all, Hitler and Arafat were also nominated. Nonetheless, his accomplishments are noteworthy.

Bolton is one of the few nominees who has actually done something to bring about peace!

I linked over here but can't figure out how to do trackbacks to here. Just thought I'd let you know :)

John Bolton is the best thing to happen at the UN in a long time. The last Bolton domination hearing was a joke. I hope this one goes better. Good post. Take care.

the post states that demos are the hecklers but doesn't identify them. was it kerry or boxer or how do you know they are demos? couldn't they be members of the libertarian party, peace and freedom party, socialist workers party or just independent voters who just don't like bolton and his politics?

you must be auditioning for an open spot at fox news or limbaugh's job while in rehab or prison.

Somebody wondered how the blogger knew the hecklers were Democrats.

    Simple.

Only Democrats are typically so rude. Remember all the commencement speeches they disrupted? In the past decade....
